FAQs

SPECIFIC TO THE 3-DAY MOVIE MARATHON WEBCAST

Where can I see this webcast?

On Friday, March 26, the front page of this site will change and the webcast player will be embedded on it.

Why is this so special?

No-one has ever done a three-day monster movie marathon online with horror hosts introducing the films live.  It’s a fun experience, recreating the old days of live local TV monster shows.

What else is going on besides the movies?

During each film, we’ll be awarding special prize packages, from books to t-shirts to collectibles and action figures.

How can I win these prizes?

Join in on the chat in the chat window attached to the player and pay attention for monster-movie trivia questions to be scrolled at the bottom of the movie screen.  The first person to chat in with the right answer wins, and a staffer will connect with you to send us your shipping details.

Can I enter more than once?

No, only one prize package per entrant.

Are these movies uncut?

The vast majority of the films are older classics and unedited.  Several of the films from our partners at Alternative Cinema contain more mature sequences, and as a courtesy to our partners at Chiller TV, we have edited nudity.  Strong language and, of course, gore, are untouched.  And we thank our partners at Alternative Cinema for graciously allowing us to make these edits.

When does the webcast start?

It starts at 5PM EST and goes on straight through Sunday night at 9PM, when we end with an old-fashioned “end of programming day” national anthem.

Is it live for the whole weekend?

During long stretches of host unavailability, such as overnights, we will play recorded versions of the hosts’ own selections of their better bits.

Who are the hosts?

A list of hosts will appear on this site as they are all confirmed, but we are proud that George A. Romero will be on hand to introduce his own Night of the Living Dead live that Saturday night!

Will any other celebrities be on the webcast?

As we’re webcasting live from the Horrorhound Weekend convention in Indianapolis, many celebrities will be on hand at the convention.  We won’t know who else shows up on camera until they decide to drop by.  Besides being glued to your computer all weekend, follow our Twitter feed to be updated to the very second for any surprises.

SPECIFIC TO THE 100YMM PROGRAM

What is the site all about?

100 Years of Monster Movies is a yearlong multimedia event that celebrates a century of a very specific movie genre that is both terrifying and fun: the monster movie.  This site is an information hub for all the activities going on.

How long does the promotion last?

It begins in March and goes on until Halloween 2010.

Why is it 100 Years of Monster Movies when there were movies with monsters before that?

Our reckoning begins with the version of “Frankenstein released by Thomas Edison’s company in 1910.  Most scholars will place the birth of the horror movie at 1896, but as we are focused on monster movies, with the monster being front and center, the Edison film was a logical choice.
